Marketing Workshop
Who is the target audience?
For the Orpington College prospectus the target audience is aimed at numerous people. This includes 14-19 year olds, their friends and family, for example parents or carers, but also has to adhere to various ethnic groups and both the genders as not to discriminate.
The reading age of the text is 12-13 years old. This is so almost anyone can read and understand it as it uses a simple writing style.
For the text to be unbiased, all pieces of writing must be clear to all. This includes those with disabilities of sight, therefore all written text in the prospectus has been layered on top of a coloured filter to make it readable to all.
What is the house style of the prospectus?
The house style of the text is consistant throughout. The college's prospectus this year has been changed and adapted to suit Bromley College's prospectus, as they are merging together in the near future.
The font style in the text is called Aroma and is used throughout, along with similar colours and graphics. All the pictures are either close-ups or medium close-ups of the models and the background on every page is white and uses alot of white space.
The colour scheme of the text also coinsides with the new building design of the college, and the colours are inspired by the building also, which includes of burnt yellows and oranges and light and dark greens.

Signified: This will be the meaning of the sign. It can be broken down into two parts, denotation and connotation.
Denotation: The common sense, culturally agreed meaning of this sign is that it is a human skull.
Connotation: My individual interpretation of this sign leads me to think of death and danger.

welcome to my blog
My name is Daniel and i'm a second year student at Orpington College currently studying AS Media Studies. This blog will follow my progress throughout the course, which will focus mainly on creating a front cover for a music magazine, so the blog will have lots of info about current music magazines as well as links to flickr.com for visual references. Anyone with a love for music, mags or blogging are welcome to comment on any posts. Thanks for stopping by.
